Ukraine: High speed rail network in five years
Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Boris Kolesnikov announced officially that Ukrainian Railways plan to build high speed network between Kiev and the largest cities in the country. The network is supposed to be built in five years.
Russia: Vyksa Steel Works summed up operating results for first quarter of 2011
According to official press release of the company - during the first quarter of 2011 production of railway wheels increased to 202.7 thousand.

Russia: More than 2 trillion roubles needed for investment in main routes by 2020
Vice-President of Russian Railways Salman Babayev said at the plenary session of the II Eurasian Transport and Logistics Forum that “to develop rail infrastructure alone, we have to invest over 2 trillion roubles at 2010 prices in the main routes of Russia’s rail network by 2020.”
Ukraine: Donetsk Railways loaded 35.6 million tons
In the first quarter of 2011 Donetsk railways have achieved significant growth of cargo transport in comparison to the same period in the last year.
Poland: Freightliner PL survived the crisis
According to the preliminary statistics, cargo carrier Freightliner PL finished 2010 year with the positive financial result. The carrier also increased the transport volume.
Germany: One more Velaro ICE for Deutsche Bahn
Deutsche Bahn ordered the sixteenth unit ICE (407 series) from Siemens Mobility. The order is the extension of the purchase from 2008.
Bulgaria: Approval for a loan of EUR 71.5 million
Bulgarian government has approved a loan of EUR 71.5 million to the national railway carrier BDZ. The loan will be granted by the Bulgarian Development Bank.
Ukraine: New tariffs for rail transit of alumina from Tajikistan
Today on 13 of April, a meeting between Ukrainian Railways representatives and Tajik delegation headed by minister of transport of Tajikistan, Nizom Hakimov has taken place. During the meeting a question of favourable tariffs for alumina rail transport has been discussed.
Lithuania: Cargo volume for the first quarter of 2011
According to official announcement of Latvian Railways (LDZ) in the first quarter of 2011 volume of Latvian transport grew by 11.7%.
Romania: More layoffs in CFR Marfa
CFR Marfa informed labor union about the layoff of 3000 employees. The company will start reducing the number of staff member from 1 June 2011.

Poland, Germany: FPS started modernization of wagons for RDC Deutschland GmbH
H. Cegielski-Fabryka Pojazdów Szynowych Sp. z o.o. (FPS) started a modernization of wagons for the company RDC GmbH. The wagons will be used for operating on the route Cologne-Hamburg.

Railway Transport of Montenegro, hereinafter referred to as “the Purchaser”, intends using the proceeds of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development towards the cost of the Project to purchase new Electric Multiple Units and associated goods and services.
