Vilnius Gediminas Technical University will organize an assessment of state capital needs for new type of transport unit. The evaluation will cost LTL 0.8m (EUR 231 thousand).

Czech Railways (Ceske Drahy – CD) signed a contract with Skoda Vagonka for production of 19 train cars.

Russian transport company Freight One has announced series of official data concerning increase of coal, alumina and construction materials shipments in January 2011.

PKP PLK announced a tender for revision repairs of 84 maintenance wagons (type 401Z and 426Z) designed for transporting sleepers. The wagons operate with the train model P 93.

State administration of Ukrainian railways equalized the prices of train tickets for passengers both in ticket offices and online. From 10 February tickets are available for the same prices. Before that, online reservations were more expensive.

According to local media, Macedonia plans to restart next year the construction of a railway link with Bulgaria under a project estimated at EUR 480m.
