Czech Republic: Compensation for CD after 2008 train catastrophe

Czech Railways will receive compensation from Eurovia for tragic train crash that happened in Studenka on 8th of August in 2008. The amount of compensation haven’t been revealed to public.

Germany: Deutsche Bahn’s delays in December

According to Warentest Foundation, statistics regarding Deutsche Bahn trains’ delays in December 2010 were even worse than Deutsche Bahn admitted. Foundation’s members controlled the timing of 60000 long-distance trains.

Serbian Railways have long-term debts of EUR 738m. EUR 576m of this debt were incurred outside of Serbia.

Slovakia is the third country after Czech Republic and Germany, in which the Polish state-owned company PKP Cargo can operate its trains. It all thanks to the safety certificate.

Russian transport company Freight One has announced series of official data concerning increase of coal, alumina and construction materials shipments in January 2011.

Poland: PKP Cargo with good results for January

In January 2011 PKP Cargo carried 9.75m tons of freight in total, which is an increase of 30% comparing to January 2010 and around 25% more than planned. The reason for such a good score is bigger demand for transporting aggregates.

Bulgaria: Talks on reform plans of Bulgarian railways have fallen

The Ministry of Transport, the trade unions, the management of BDZ Holding and National Company Railway Infrastructure (NKZI) discussed the reform plan for the financial stabilization of the railways sector. However, talks have fallen and Bulgaria expects strikes.

Poland: 2010 results of Lotos Kolej

In 2010 the company Lotos Kolej carried 8.4 million tons of freight compared to 6 million a year before. It means, that the operator managed to increase its cargo volume by 35% year on year.

According to Slovak News Agency the state-run ZSSK is considering the possibility of cancelling up to seventy train connection on eight lines.

According to announcement of Rail Cargo Hungaria operating license for 10 1047 Taurus locomotives has been granted to MAV Trackio.

Hungary: Long term agreement between Rail Cargo Hungaria and ISD Dunaferr

According to official announcement two Hungarian companies Rail Cargo Hungaria and ISD Dunaferr have signed agreement regulating freight conditions of traffic.

Poland: Tender for repair of 84 cargo wagons

PKP PLK announced a tender for revision repairs of 84 maintenance wagons (type 401Z and 426Z) designed for transporting sleepers. The wagons operate with the train model P 93.

Ukraine: Online tickets cheaper

State administration of Ukrainian railways equalized the prices of train tickets for passengers both in ticket offices and online. From 10 February tickets are available for the same prices. Before that, online reservations were more expensive.

Macedonia, Bulgaria: New international rail connection

According to local media, Macedonia plans to restart next year the construction of a railway link with Bulgaria under a project estimated at EUR 480m.
