Czech Republic: International Rail Freight Conference IRFC 2011
Between 23-25 March 2011 Czech Republic, the 3rd International Railway Freight Conference (IRFC) on the international freight transports between Europe and Asia has taken place. The conference was organized in Prague by the company JERID, which is a member company of OLTIS Group with the cooperation of International Union of Railways, Organization for Cooperation of Railways andChina International Freight Forwarders Association
Czech Republic: What will be the name of new DMU?
Czech Railways informed that the company is looking for name of the EMU which will operate in five counties providing regional transport services. The vehicle will be produced by Skoda Transportation.
Germany: Vossloh’s financial results
As RTT News informs, for 2010, earnings advanced 10.9 percent to EUR 97.51 million from EUR 87.9 million in 2009. Earnings per share advanced to EUR 7.322 from EUR 6.57 and included EUR 0.40 per share related to reversal of accruals recognized in connection with the divestment of the Infrastructure Services business unit.
Ukraine: Meeting between Ukraine Railways and World Bank
On March 29 in Kiev a meeting between new General Director of Railways Vladimir Kozak and World Bank representative in Ukraine, Belarussia and Moldavia, Martin Raiser, took place.
Russia: In 2011 Gorky Railway overhauled 38 crossings
According to the program of traffic safety in the current year Gorky Railways (RZD's subsidiary) overhauled 38 crossings. This is part of program of infrastructure repairs that hast been started last year.
Slovenia, Ukraine: First direct rail freight connection
Slovenian railways initiated the first direct rail freight connection between Ljubljana and Ukraine.
Ukraine: New CEO of Ukrainian Railways
Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsya) has appointed new general director, Vladimir Kozak who replaced Michail Kostiuk.
Austria: Special offer for the summer
Austrian railways is preparing a special offer that includes rides along Europe’s most popular and scenic train routes at nearly half the rates. The offer will be available from 1 April 2011.
Serbia: Wagon production will strengthen metal complex in Serbia
Minister of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric announced that incentives to wagon production will continue. This will improve the metal complex and help the whole economy.
Georgia: Railway bypass construction already in progress
First construction works concerning infrastructure, bridges, and road beds on Kakheti line of the railway have begun. This is the first part of project of building the Tbilisi rail bypass.
Bulgaria: Bulgarian railway system the worst in CEE
According to the Karsten Rasmussen, deputy head of the unit responsible for Bulgaria in the directorate general for regional policy of the European Commission, Bulgaria has the worst railway system in Central and Eastern Europe.
Czech Republic: Trams with wireless Internet in Prague
Municipal Department of Communication in Prague informed that soon internet access will be available in trams of Czech Republic capital.
Russia: Trans-Baikal Railways plan fire safety investments
In 2011 the Trans-Baikal Railway will spend about RUB 43.1 million for fire safety infrastructure. This is part of RZD "Fire Safety" programme.
Russia: RZD spent over RUB 84 billion for collective agreement
On March 29 head of RZD, Vladimir Yakunin, attended the XXXI Congress of the Russian Trade Union of Railwaymen and Transport Construction, during which he summarized the implementation of collective agreements in 2010.
Germany: Deutsche Bahn will not operate on Glasgow-London line
Deutsche Bahn has not been shortlisted by the Department of Transport for the West-Coast Intercity rail franchise in a tender for rail passenger services between London and Glascow.
Russia: Salman Babayev appointed Vice-President of Russian Railways
The Board of Directors of Russian Railways has appointed Salman Babayev Vice-President of Russian Railways with responsibility for commercial activities.
Germany: Statistics regarding rail freight transport in Germany in 2010
German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) published results for rail freight traffic for 2010. A total of 355.7 million t of freight were transported on Germany's railway network in 2010, according to the Federal Statistical Office.
Russia: RZD has completed its GBP 350 million (EUR 397.4 million) eurobond offering
Russian Railways (RZD) annouced that on 25 March 2011 the company has completed its regulations offering of GBP 350 million (EUR 397.4 million), 7.487 percent Eurobonds due 2031 listed on the Irish Stock Exchange (the "Eurobond Offering").
Estonia: Freight transport economic results go up
According to data announced by Estonian Statistical Bureau (ESB), there has been increase of freight volume for Estonian companies in 2010. The main growth concerns sea an rail transport on international level.
Bulgaria: Sofia metro line ahead of schedule
According to Sofia News Agency referring to Bulgarian authorities, the construction of the second line of Sofia Metro is two months ahead of schedule.
