Russia: RZD invested RUB 4.9 billion in development of Tuapse – Adler line
Russian Railways (RZD) invested RUB 4.9 billion (EUR 124m) in the development of Tuapse – Adler railway line in the first half of this year.
Serbia: Egis and Alstom to design metro in Belgrade
Two French companies, Egis and Alstom will be responsible for delivery of a design and master plan for metro in the capital city of Serbia.

China: Another order for CRH1
Bombardier Transportation informed, that its Chinese joint venture – Bombardier Sifang Transportation Ltd. received an order for additional 40 high-speed trains CRH1.
Serbia: Serbian Railways signed a cooperation agreement with the city of Nis
On the 16th of July, Milovan Markovic, the general director of the Serbian Railways, and Milos Simonovic, the mayor of Nis, signed an agreement on cooperation in the area of railway transport and infrastructure.
Russia: EUR 48m for construction of a railway line from the Sochi airport
In the first half of 2010, Russian Railways (RZD) invested over RUB 1.9 billion (EUR 48m) in construction of a railway line from Adler to Sochi international airport.
Latvia: LDz completed modernization of train control system
On the 8th of July, Latvian Railways (LDz) completed the modernization of train control system on the route between Slampe and Livberze.
Ukraine: H1 transport results of Ukrzaliznytsia
Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) announced its results for the first half of this year.
Germany: VTG entered the grain transport market
On the 12th of July, VTG, the wagon hire and rail logistics company, signed contracts for the purchase of 1,100 grain silo wagons from Ermewa Ferroviaire SAS and for the purchase of 75% stake in TMF SA.
Poland: Contract signed for 3 EMUs for Lodzkie province
Rolling-stock repair plant ZNTK Minsk Mazowiecki will deliver three modernized Electric Multiple Units EN57 to the Lodzkie province.
Czech Republic, Poland: OHL ZS won a tender for reconstruction of a railway line
The Polish state-owned railway infrastructure manager PKP PLK chose the offer of the Czech company OHL ZS a.s. from Brno in a tender for reconstruction of a railway line between Gliwice Labedy and Pyskowice.
Germany: DB Regio received a 13-year contract for Warnow-Netz operations
DB Regio, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn, received another 13-year contract to operate Warnow-Netz regional services.
Russia: RZD signed cooperation deals with Siemens
On the 15th of July, at Russian-German intergovernmental consultations in Yekaterinburg, in the presence of Russian president Dmitry Medvedev and German chancellor Angela Merkel, Russian Railways president Vladimir Yakunin signed a range of documents with Siemens CEO Peter Loscher.
Belarus: “Tariffs for container cargo will not be raised”
Pavel Bozhanov, the head of the strategic development, coordination and investing in transport systems of the Belarus Ministry for Transport and Communications, announced during a press conference, that tariffs on transportation of container cargo will not be increased in the near future.
Europe: Indians enter the European railway market
Apart from the Chinese, who recently signed a cooperation agreement with Polish state-owned rail freight carrier PKP Cargo, also Indians want to start production of wagons on the European market.
Russia: Transport of aluminum up in H1 of 2010
The Russian rail freight operator Freight One informed, that in the first half of the year it managed to increase the aluminum shipments from Krasnoyarsk and Sayanogorsk smelters .
Poland: 2009 annual report of Koleje Dolnoslaskie
Koleje Dolnoslaskie, the rail passenger operator of Lower Silesian province, announced its annual report for the year 2009.
Russia: Mechel announced its Q1 results
On the 14th of July, the Russian steel group Mechel announced financial results for the first quarter of the year.
Czech Republic: Josef Bazala accuses Petr Zaluda
The former president of CD Cargo, Josef Bazala, accused Petr Zaluda, the head of the Czech Railways, of a deliberate media campaign against him.
