Germany: DB Schenker Logistics - certified quality for land transport products
DB Schenker Logistics recently commissioned Bureau Veritas to audit its quality management system for European land transport. The system focuses on customer requirements and on the operational processes and elements that have an impact on quality. The certification company confirmed that the system is able to meet the high demands made of it.
Romania: Controversial list of non-interoperable railway sections
On 30 March 2011 Romanian ministry of transport published the list of non-interoperable railway sections. According to the fact that some of the information included in the list is contradictory, the list seems controversial.

Estonia: Tallin joined the Rail Baltica partner project
Tallin city council announced that the city will become a partner in the Rail Baltica Growth Corridor (RBGC) informed Estonian Public Broadcasting News portal.
Austria: New cargo terminal in Inzersdorf
The residents of Inzersdorf agreed on a plan of building a freight terminal. The investment will be held by Austrian Federal Railways (OBB).
Russia: 294 million tons of loads in the first quarter of 2011
Between January and March 2011 amount of cargo loaded on RZD's rail tracks has reached level of 294.6 million tons. This is 5.5% more than during last year in the same period.
Russia, Kazakhstan: Trans Container acquired 67% stake in Keden Trans Service
According to company's official announcement Russian freight operator Trans Container has taken over the leading Kazakhstan private operator Keden Trans Service.

Russia: New passenger information system between Petersburg and Buslovskaya Oktyabrskaya
EUR 1.5 million will be allocated in 2011 for a comprehensive upgrading of suburban stopping points with modern systems of visual information on the route St. Petersburg – Buslovskaya Oktyabrskaya.
Russia: RZD developed innovation programme for next four years
“Russian Railways (RZD) have developed a programme for the innovative development of the company” up to 2015, said the president of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin during Innovative Technologies Forum InfoSpace.
Europe: Rail freight grows by more than 5% in 2010
Recent data published by Community of European Railway (CER) shows that for the full year 2010 compared to 2009, rail freight increased by 5.4% in Western Europe and by more than 7% in Eastern Europe.
Poland, Lithuania: Merger between Trakcja Polska and Tiltra cancelled
Polish company Trakcja Polska and Lithuanian company Tiltra have published an announcement in which we read: "Despite the efforts made and progress achieved in the process of merger, both sides agreed that the transaction cannot be finalized".
Romania: Open letter regarding closing 1000 km of railways
The Romanian Railway Industry Association wants to address you several points of view regarding the problem of the announced shut-down of the railways part of the Romanian rail network. Considering the recent issue of the White Paper on Transport 2011, strategic document of the European Union, we believe Romania should also take real steps towards encouraging the mobility growth of freight and passengers based on environmentally friendly conditions.
Lithuania: Conference on Viking project

Czech Republic: SZDC has signed a contract with Rapid Express
Railway infrastructure Administration (SZDC) signed an agreement on access to rail network with the Rapid Express led by Leos Novotny.
Serbia: Rail connection between Serbia and Italy
Italian railways are interested in establishing rail link of a high standard for passenger traffic between northern Italy and Serbia, that would connect Trieste and Venice with Belgrade. Serbian railways expects that this project will be supported by Croatian and Slovenian railways. The train would pass Slovenia and Croatia.
