InnoTrans 2010: “The current organization of railway transport is obsolete”

InnoTrans 2010: Bigger fair despite the crisis
Despite the global downturn, this year’s InnoTrans fair is bigger than in the previous years. – The number of exhibitors went up from 1941 in 2008 to 2242 in 2010. It means 300 companies or 17% more – said Christian Goeke, the managing director of InnoTrans, at the opening of the fair.
Slovenia: Seven month results of Slovenian Railways
The state-owned Slovenian Railways published its results after the first seven months of the year.
Czech Republic: Lostr became Legios
From the first of September 2010, the Czech rolling-stock manufacturer Lostr changed its name to Legios.
Montenegro: Good results of Montecargo

Hungary: New CEO of MAV Start
On the 16th of September, a new Chief Executive Officer has been appointed in the Hungarian state-owned rail passenger operator MAV Start.
Russia: 10% more to be invested in railways
The investment program of Russian Railways RZD will be increased for the years 2011 – 2012 by around 10%.
Poland: “New solutions for market’s development”

At the end of this year, the Hungarian Rail Association HUNGRAIL will have a new president and CEO.
Europe: Commission sets out measures to improve rail services
The European Commission on the 17th of September adopted a proposal to provide better rail services for passenger and freight users by: increasing competition on the railway market; strengthening the power of national regulators; and improving the framework for investment in rail.
Poland: Another try to sell sleepers treatment plant in Pludry
The Polish Ministry of State Treasury announced an auction for sale of a sleepers treatment plant in the city of Pludry (Nasycalnia Podkladow Pludry).
Ukraine: Deputy PM criticized Ukrzaliznytsia
At the press conference on the 16th of September, Boris Kolesnikov, the deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, strongly criticized the way Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) was looking for investors for Euro 2012.
Hungary: MAV to sue Bombardier
The state-owned Hungarian Railways MAV will file a lawsuit against the rolling-stock manufacturer Bombardier Transportation.
Ukraine: Metro in Kiev to be funded by Japan?
The Kiev city officials are now considering taking a loan from the Japanese Investments Foundation. The money would be spent for construction of a metro line to Troyeschyna district.
Russia: 8 month results of Transgarant
The Russian rail freight operator Transgarant published its results for the first eight months of the year.
Romania: Astra Vagoane Arad to supply passenger cars to Regiojet?
Astra Vagoane Calatori Arad, the main car supplier for the Romanian public railway operator CFR Calatori, won the tender for delivery of 50 passenger cars to a Czech operator.
Poland: PKP SA signed a contract for reconstruction of Krakow Glowny station
The new railway station Krakow Glowny will be one of the elements of the modern transport junction linking the underground Krakow tram, parking for cars, bus station and the airport.
