Czech Republic: Czech Railways is planning to issue bonds
Czech media informed that Czech carrier is planning to enter the bond market. Currently Czech railways are seeking ways to ensure good international rating of the bonds. Czech Railways said Railway Market, that the bonds will be issued in nearest months, and will be worth about EUR 300 million.
Latvia: DLRR announced financial plan for 2011
Daugavpils locomotive repair plantDLRR announced a financial plan for 2011. The company plans to earn LVL 712 thousand.
Romania: Basarab station in Bucharest to be developed
CFR SA will sign an agreement with Bucharest Municipality for carrying on with works at the Basarab station. Works include the development of the tram station on the cable suspended bridge and the installation of canopy, access elevators, escalators and pavements towards Gara de Nord.
Poland: Accident on the rails - 2 persons are dead
A truck has crashed with train of polish carrier PKP Intercity in Pomerania Region (northern Poland). As a result of this collision two people have died and 26 were injured.
Czech Republic: 40 million of passengers transported in the first quarter of 2011
Czech Railways announced general data concerning company's results in 2011. From january till March Czech carrier have provided service to over 40 million passengers, this is significant growth in comparison to the last year.
Croatia: Presentation of 2 new trains for Croatian railways
On 21 April rolling stock manufacturer Gredelj delivered to Croatian Railways two new trains that will be carrying passengers in Croatia.
Lithuania: Talks about new freight connection between Europe and Asia
Lithuanian Ministry of transport invited neighbour countries to discuss idea of developing new freight connection between Riga and Moscow. The connection would set a basis for further development in the direction of Central Asia.
Slovakia: Regiojet carried first 2000 people
During three days Regiojet's (Student's Agency subsidiary) trains carried over 2000 passengers on the route between Bratislava, Dunajska Streda and Komarno informed the company.

Against previous plans the contractor for development of Poznan rail station area will be chosen trough tender procedure and not competition.
Germany, Russia: DB Schenker Logistics opens office in Kaluga
ZAO Schenker, the Russian country organization of DB Schenker Logistics, has recently launched a new business unit in Kaluga. Kaluga is a fast growing economic region, especially with regard to the automotive sector.
Russia: High-speed trains to outrun planes?
According to Ros Business Consulting, high-speed rail line Moscow-St. Petersburg might be more attractive to passengers than the flight connection. The new line for high-speed trains is expected to be ready in 2018. It is also reported that it will cost 500 - 700 billion rubles. 70% of the project will be sponsored by the state, 30% by private investors.
Czech Railways: Removal of old rolling stock in Central Bohemia
Czech Railways continue the exchange of old EMU's (called popularly "pantographs") in central Bohemia. Recently 80 % of all old EMU's have been exchanged by City Elephants.
Russia: EUR 2.4 million for improvement of working conditions
Volga Railways (RZD’s subsidiary) will spend over RUB 100 million (EUR 2.4 million) for working condition and safety programs. This is part of Russian Railways directives in relation to labour relations.

Russia: Siemens to build first regional trains for Russian City Sochi in Krefeld
Vladimir Yakunin, president of Russian Railways (RZD), and Peter Löscher, Siemens CEO, today officially launched the production of regional trains for the Russian city Sochi in a ceremony that was attended by Dr. Peter Ramsauer, German Federal Minister of Transport.
Ukraine, China: Ukraine will get a loan of EUR 8.2 billion
The president of the State Agency of Ukraine for Investment and National Projects Management Vladislav Kaskiv and President of the Chinese Eximbank Li Ruogu signed a memorandum of understanding to finance national priority projects worth up to EUR 6.8 million.
