Poland: Tramwaje Śląskie testing another tram
Tramwaje Śląskie (Silesian Trams) are testing a third tram piece. This time it is a German Pt unit, rented from Frankfurt am Main.
Tramwaje Śląskie is a tram operator managed by 12 communes in the densly populated Silesia region.
The Pt has been tested on the route Chorzów - Katowice. The tests will last for around 30 days.
The tram is 27 years old, high-floor and out of service sine 2007. According to German regulations it offers 62 seats and place for another 108 standing passengers. Polish norms will allow even 240 passengers inside.
It is the third tram unit tested in the last 12 months. The other units were Alstom's Citadis and a 205 Wr- As from Protram.
