Bulgaria: Rehabilitation of Plovdiv – Burgas link to be launched in March 2010

According to the Focus News Agency, the rehabilitation of the part of Plovdiv – Burgas railway line will be launched in March next year.



Works are expected to finish by the end of 2013. The project aims at increasing the speed on the route up to 130 km/h. The plan has already been approved by the Ministry of Environment and Water.

Other rail infrastructure projects underway are: the Vidin-Sofia rail line, which will start in 2014 and is expected to be finished at the end of 2020 and the route between Svilengrad and the Bulgarian-Turkish border, works on which should end in June 2011.
